Old School Renovations

Old School Progress Work is well underway on the renovation of the old Ashland school for Tri County County Community Action Program.

The driveway and parking lot have received their base coat of pavement. (The utility pole now standing awkwardly in the center of the driveway's street entrance will be removed soon when the Electric Department resets the poles on that part of School Street.)

Exterior trim and brickwork are being repaired, the two front porches are being rebuilt, and a new porch is being added for a new rear entrance. That new entrance will serve a new interior stairway in the back of the building required to provide a second egress from the building's three stories. (The old fire escapes have been removed.)

A three-story shaft has been created for the elevator to be installed in the front of the building.

The interior walls have been studded out, and some sheet rock has been put up. Currently, insulation, wiring, plumbing and heating are all being installed throughout the building from the basement to the third story.

The western classroom on the first floor will serve as the Headstart classroom. The eastern classroom will be the TCCAP community contact office, with one large room and three smaller offices along the outer eastern wall. TCCAP will also have another small offiœ on the second floor.

Most of the second floor and all of the third  floor are available for rental to non- profit organizations
