Select board approves grant application
ASHLAND-At their Monday evening meeting, the Ashland selectmen approved a $500,000 grant application for the old elementary school, discussed a proposal for nighttime ballpark lights, approved an assessing contract and dealt with several other issues. Miriam Brown of Tri County Community Action Program (TCCAP) presented a proposal for a Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) application to be made in the town's name for the preservation and reuse of the old Ashland elementary school by TCCAP. The $500,000 grant would help to install Headstart and other TCCAP programs in the historic school building. Brown explained that TCCAP was close to obtaining the deed for the building. There was little discussion at the public hearing. The selectmen voted to allow TCCAP to make the CDBG application.
