The school board and Tri-County Community Action Program are still negotiating the sale of the building.
Building Inspector Bob Hicks called the superintendent the previous Friday to request that a safety fence be erected around the old elementary school building. He asked that the fence be ten feet high and be set back twenty feet from the building. The principal quickly obtained estimates for a fence from the two companies that have worked on school fences in the past. The fencers felt that 10 feet was excessively high and that such a fence might prove top heavy. They gave estimates for six and eight feet high fences. Burgess was concerned about the 20-foot setback on the rear of the building, as that might not leave enough room for the school bus to turn around there, as it does now. The board agreed to ask Hicks if they could erect a six foot high fence that would be set back 20 feet, except for a 15-foot setback in the rear.
The meeting ended with a non-public session on those negotiations and personnel matters.
